Shepherds Shepherds!

I had the opportunity to doggie sit Musty the German Shepherd for a week, sadly it was overcast most of the week, but thankfully it cleared up on Saturday afternoon, so I took both shepherds to the park to get some photos.

Musty turns out to be a great model! Apart from Echo, she’s one of the best dog to photograph with. The sun was setting, Musty and Echo were having fun, and it was a fabulous afternoon to spend time with the dogs.

I had some of these photos printed, the feeling when you look at an actual print, in your hand, is SOOO much better then looking at a photo on the computer monitor or TV. We are in a digital age now and most people look at photos on their screen, however the feeling of holding an actual photograph of your loved ones in your hands will never be able to be replaced by looking at them on electronic screens. With the photos in my hands, marvelling at the beauty of the dogs almost bring a tear to my eyes!

My German Shepherd is 4 years old!

Time flies so quickly, I can’t believe Echo is 4 already. Happy Birthday!

Looking back at her puppy photos, I was amazed at how TINY she was, not to mention soooooo adorable!

IMG_2632r

She’s a smart pup as well; Most of the tricks I taught her only took a day or two. She never (well, hardly ever :p) destroy stuff in the house or yard, she’s just a wonderful dog, a very beautiful one too! :)

Echo is such a good model as well! She always put up with me asking her to pose, and she’s so good at it! I swear with some training she can be a great K9 star on TV or something.

Echo, thanks for these wonderful 4 years, you’re the best dog I’ve ever had. You never fail to cheer me up when I’m down, you always stuck by my side (literally!), and I know we are going to have a lot more adventurous years together. Happy Birthday!

Wolf Park

Everyone have a list of stuff they want to do in their life. Buying a house, buying a nice car, go somewhere for a holiday. This year I've finally crossed one that have been sitting on top of my list for a long long time, and that's meeting a wolf in real life.

IMG_9853r

I love dogs a lot, and I also love wolves as well. Unfortunately there are none here so the only way to meet a wolf is to go overseas. Thanks to the internet I've found Wolf Park. Wolf Park is a nonprofit wildlife education and research facility in Indiana, USA. I've been sponsoring a wolf there for years and it has always been my goal to visit Wolf Park. Well, I'm proud to say that I've finally done it!

Don't let the photos fool ya, they are all very socialised, veeeeery sweet! Obviously there are some rules to follow while you are inside the wolf enclosure (after all they are still wild animal), but you can pretty much do anything with them. They will come to you, asking for pets, licking your face, even sticking their nose in your crotch!

IMG_8950r - Hmmm... I like your smell!

There are a lot of interaction between the wolves too. All the "aggression" you see are between the wolves only, rarely do these wolves get grumpy to us two-leggers. In the wild wolves are actually *afraid* of humans. So yes, all the "Big Bad Wolf" stories you've heard ever since you're a kid are all not true. Real fight between wolves hardly ever occurs, and they rarely fight to the point of injuring each other. The dominance and submission you see are necessary to maintain the pack hierarchy.

I really hate it when people say wolf (or certain breed of dogs for that matter) are aggressive and "evil" without knowing them first. Just look at Ruedi here, he's got such a beautiful eyes... Ohh ain't he CUTE!

Foxy the Cat

Many people email me and asked if I photograph anything apart from dogs, the answer is yes! I photograph all kinds of pets, cats and birds included. Meet Foxy, what a cute kitty! She is only a few months old, so she's curious about everything...

Flyball Queen Zoe

One of my client sent me an article on flyball in the Daily Telegraph this Monday, her dog Zoe is one of the dogs in the photos, how awesome is that!

Zoe goes to flyball competitions and she's absolutely ball obsessed, she'll do anything for a tennis ball! We had a session at the beach along with Toby, he's 11 years old and was a little shy at first when I met him, but once we're at the beach he's a completely different dog. He went chasing after waves, retrieve his stick and dug holes after holes non stop, it was hilarious to watch :)

It's hard to decide which photos to share here because there are so many shots which I like, here're a few of my favorites. Yes the ball never leave her mouth!

We also went to the park to get some different varieties of shots, and Zoe showed me why they call it "flyball"

IMG_7022d

Even when she's taking a break, you can be sure that the ball is always within her muzzle's reach

We went back to the beach to catch the last rays of light, she's such a sweetheart!

Thanks Lauren for giving me the opportunity to meet your two lovely dogs, Zoe is a very special girl! For those that are interested in the article in the Daily Telegraph, click Here.

Summer is around the corner

How can you tell summer's coming? For me it means I find Echo by my feet in the morning instead of next to me under the blanket, waking me up an extra hour early everyday, balls of fur rolling like tumbleweed whenever there's a slight breeze. She is starting to shed and the FURminator really helps, but it's still coming off like it's never ending!

There are no place better then the beach when the weather is warming up. The dogs love it and it's perfect for photos. Too bad she doesn't swim. I tried once to get her to fetch a ball which I throw into the water, but she just stood there with a "what do you want me to do? You go get it" look. Well... I can't swim either, so we watched the ball slowly drifted away, until a 4 year old kid walked pass and got it for us... Embarrassing...

But anyway, she still enjoy going to the beach, chasing the waves, here are some photos, I tried to put them in a Flash slideshow so if it doesn't work you'll need Adobe Flash Player (pretty sure almost everyone got it nowadays). Also, anonymous comment has been disable in this blog because I am getting attacked by spammers, the spam filters doesn't work and I can't deal with hundreds of spam a day.

Enjoy the photos :)

When the weather gets rough...

You don't need perfect weather to get great pictures. Sure, a nice beautiful sunny day with blue sky is great, and obviously no one feel like going out when it's pouring bucket loads (even tho the dogs would love to) But when a storm is coming, you look outside and it seems like the end of the world is here, well... you can get some nice pics as well.

Echo_5615dr2

This is what I saw when I came home yesterday afternoon. I knew instantly that I had to take Echo out for some photos too. What makes it even more fun is when the dogs go hyper while everything's flying around: leaves, branches, sand, dust, it's hectic! The wind was so strong it nearly knocked me over a few times. Then it started to rain a little. To be honest I did thought about running back to the car, but it wasn't raining *that* badly. I guess I was rewarded for getting my lens and camera wet when the rain stopped and the sun came out a little just in time to set, this is definitely better then your average sunny day!
